Fake gold bullion bars

Last summer I spent three or four weeks in Versailles, France. The city is situated near Paris, but of course it"s much smaller. I visited it with a cousin. When I got bored with sightseeing, he took me to a huge flea market in town. The market was really big, there were hundreds of stalls, and people were selling a variety of incredible things. You could find old portraits, pottery, clothes, jewellery and even sports equipment. I bought myself a nice pair of second-hand rollerblades and we were just about to leave the place, when an old man in a dark suit caught my eye. He was selling something that looked like gold bullion. We came nearer and asked him what those bars were really made off. The man seemed a bit drunk, or perhaps it was just my impression. Anyway, he could not speak very clearly, and our French was not perfect, but we understood that he was selling fake gold bullion bars as souvenirs. I bought one for a couple of Euros and though I would show it to my sister and try to take her in. It looked like made of genuine gold! Of course, my sister did not believe me. She knows I"m not a millionaire and I can"t afford buying gold. But the bar is a nice souvenir, I suppose. Sometimes I still think it looks really authentic. Perhaps the man was insane? I must ask an expert one day, maybe it"s something more than just a piece of useless metal.
